Rock Port Mutual Telephone Company
1902
On August 8, 1902 the Rock Port Mutual Telephone Company was officially organized as they bought the Northwestern Telephone Co. in Rock Port. They later made the arrangements for an exchange of service with all telephones in Atchison County so that there needed to be only one switchboard in Rock Port.
In the early 1900s 36 lines ran to the switchboard at the telephone company’s office and there were 368 telephones.
